What is The Cloud?

“In the cloud” is a concept, an idea. When someone says something is “in the cloud,” they mean it is stored on someone else’s computer and is accessible through the Internet.

That’s it. There ain’t no more to the story. However, a couple of examples may help.

Google Drive is our first example. It allows you to store your files on someone else’s computer. You can access your files from any web browser by going to https://drive.google.com.

Facebook is another example. It allows you to leave messages for individuals or groups on someone else’s computer. You can access your messages at facebook.com.
